Hi everyone,
We had an incredible WDP 10 at New Holly, with over 250 people in attendance. It was a packed room, and the Somali, Zumba, Bachata, Israeli, Hip-Hop, Salsa, Samba, Bollywood, and line-dancing instructors did not disappoint. Thank you to our volunteers, sponsors, and everyone who helped to make the event possible. And the food you all brought was delicious! Here’s a picture below. See more on our Facebook page.
Our next WDP event will be at Northwest Folklife. Details coming soon.
Meanwhile, our friends in Shoreline are having a WDP tonight at Shoreline Community Center. See the details! Sorry about the short notice, but if you’re free, let’s bring the energy to Shoreline!
Hi everyone, we’ve been busy planning the next WDP. Mark your calendar:
Hi everyone, we hope you’re excited about the WDP coming up this week! Here’s the line-up:
Hi everyone, great news! With support from a grant from the Seattle Foundation’s Neighbor to Neighbor Fund, we are putting on more WDPs! The next one will be on 11/15/13 from 6:03pm to 9:27pm at the Filipino Community Center, located at 5740 Martin Luther King Jr. Way S.
Mark your calendar and tell your friends. Meanwhile, we’re looking for dancer instructors, volunteers, and Dance Ambassadors, so please email us at worlddanceparty@gmail.com
See you then!
Hi everyone,
We had a blast, holding our 9th WDP at Folklife. Thank you to our instructors (Eberley, Flamenco; Angela, Belly Dancing; Magnus, West African; The Sliders, line dancing; D’Vorah, Israeli dancing; and Patrick, Swedish). Tons of people showed up. Here’s a video:
WDP may take a break during the summer, doing background stuff like applying for funding to do more WDPs next year, and adding the WDP touch to other events like the Duwamish River Cleanup Coalition’s Festival on August 17th and the Othello Park Festival on Sunday August 19th.
Thank you to everyone who helped to make our 9 WDPs so far so much fun. See you again soon.
Sorry we haven’t been updating this blog very often. But that’s because we were planning WDP9, which is taking place at Northwest Folklife! Please invite your friends, family, and/or colleagues — we will be featuring dance instructors who have been a BIG part of the WDP community. We are listed on the list of “28 Great Things to See at Folklife this Year.”
*Hip Hop
*Flamenco
*Hora
*Belly Dancing
*Sliders (line dancing)
*West African
On Saturday, we had WDP8, our first one in South Park. Of course, it was great, with over 200 people in attendance. Please go to Facebook.com/worlddanceparty for pictures. Also, we were featured in the South Park News!
Meanwhile, here are some pictures. We really got into the dancing and didn’t take as many videos as we should have. If you attended and have some videos/pictures, please email us at worlddanceparty@gmail.com. See you at World Dance Party 9, held at Folklife on May 25th from 1pm to 3pm at the Armory (food court area). Tell your friends!
On Friday 3/22, Shoreline had their first WDP. Some of us from WDP Seattle dropped by to check it out, and were astonished at how awesome WDP-Shoreline was! The Flamenco, Bollywood, West African, and other dances, were so much fun. The room was PACKED. Totally amazing work, Shoreline! We’re so glad to see WDP spreading around to other cities. We’re looking forward to the next WDP-Shoreline. Here are some videos:
West African
Bollywood. Skip to :55 to see some awesome moves by a couple of kids!
Not sure what that was called, but it was fun!
